Dr. Barbara Etzel opened the doors
to Floyd Harbor Animal Hospital in 1989 as a solo practitioner. In
seventeen years the hospital has become a community resource, now
serving a second generation of Shirley area pets. Dr. Etzel's
dedication to her clients begins when they arrive for their first
appointment and continues through that pet's life journey.
Tempting a tiny pup to take a bisquit while in the
office or offering a tidbit to a patient post-op, Dr. Etzel
first priority is her patients' comfort. Her concern continues long
after the hospital closes for the day as the hospitalized patients'
care is reviewed and owners are updated with new lab results.
Don't be surprised when the telephone rings at 10 p.m. to find it's
Dr. Etzel with a good night status call about your hospitalized
pet. Put your trust in Dr Etzel to care for your pet as if it were
one of her own.

Licensed veterinary technicians
and their support staff provide the daily care for all animals
in residence at Floyd Harbor Animal Hospital. On a given day that
care might include obtaining radiographs on a three pound kitten
with a fractured leg, monitoring an elderly Bulldog under
anaesthesia for a dentistry, ensuring all the boarders are clean
and well fed, getting a blood sample from a ferret, restraining an
unwilling pup for vaccinations, brushing a Persian cat,
and talking a 150 pound Rottweiller into getting into the
tub for a bath. Pretty talented group of people!
